The National Electoral Commission (NEC) has released fees for the forthcoming Parliamentary and Local Council bye election for constituency 010 and Ward 012 Kailahun district.
One Million for the local council and ten million for the parliamentary elections had been announced in a NEC press release issued 8th January 2021.
According to the release both elections will be held as a result of the letter received from the Clerk of Parliament and the Chief Administrator of the Kailahun district council that vacancies have created as a consequence of the death of the late Hon. Samuel Genewai Panda, former member of Parliament for constituency 010 and the late Madam Nancy Lillian Gbadegoi Coomber, former councilor of Ward 012, Kailahun district council.
Saturday 27th February has been declared by the NEC as the official date for the conduct of the said Parliamentary and Local Council bye election in constituency 010 and 012 in Kailahun district.
The release further revealed the final dates for nomination of candidates for both elections which are 1st to the 2nd February 2021. This will take place at the NEC district office in Kailahun. Political Parties are therefore urged to submit names of endorsed candidates on or before the 30th January to the National Electoral Commission (NEC).
The Commission will be conducting these bye elections in accordance with Corona Virus (COVID 19) prevention guidelines, as approved by the National COVID-19 Response Centre (NACOVERC).
