Mahmoud Kamara (engineer), Alie Barrie, and Amara Sesay, workers of Africell, made another appearance before the principal Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1, Magistrate Sahr Kekura, as they were dragged to court by Sierretal Company in an alleged larceny matter.

The accused were standing in on two-count charges of conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

The charge sheet indicated that the accused conspired together to commit a crime of larceny on Wednesday, July 3rd, 2024, at Komrabai Village Lokomasama village, Port Loko District.

The charges further show that the accused did steal one B15 3606 CDMA 3/2 site, six Aviat Eclipse IGbps microwave links, and one DC rectifier cabinet 48v.200 Apm, twelve deep cycle VLAR Gel battery and other assorted items equivalent to the total value of three billion, nine hundred and seventy-three million and seventeen thousand (3, 973,1700) property of Sierra Leone Telecommunication company

When the charge was read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was made.

Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai led Prosecution witness number six, Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara, who resided at Grafton Police Barracks attached to the Criminal Investigation Department Cid headquarters Pademba Road Freetown. Some of his duties are to ensure the registration and safekeeping of all matters that have been investigated and charged to court and to tender the exhibit in court.

When the need arose, he recalled on the 25th of July 2024, detective police constable 14078 Bangura A, attached to the Electrical Distribution and Supply Authority EDSA department, handed over to him the following items: one old white Toyota vehicle with registration number ASZ 564 containing quantity of I.F cables D.C multi stand cable C.4 jumper cable generator mains cable Earth cable green and black D.C power cable power surge suppressor outdoor earthing bar U bout A.C buss bar and DC and AC breakers the said items were registered in their court book against serial number 072/2024 since then it has been in the custody of the police which he produces and tendered in court to form part of the court records. Defense counsel Walter Gabber cross-examined the witness.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to November 11, 2024.
