Supporters of Rodney Edmond Michael in Bo were in a joyous mood after they heard that   the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has declared former Sierra Leone Premier League board chairman, Rodney Edmond Michael provisionally eligible to contest for the Presidency of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) until his case before the court is concluded.

According to them, a sport journalist in Bo, Mohamed Baskay Sherriff,   has made several postings on the social media and has gone viral about the decision taken by CAS and that they are looking forward to seeing a statement from the Sierra Leone Football Association.

Supporters of Rodney Michael in Bo said that their candidate is over qualified and it is out of jealousy they want to elbow out their candidate.

“Rodney is knowledgeable about football administration so allow him to put the right system in place for the Sierra Leone football family, Jatu Bio said,

She added that, “in 2013, Rodney Michael and Sierra Leone superstar Mohamed Kallon were among those disqualified from contesting the SLFA presidential election. As a result, Isha Johansen, who now doubles as CAF Executive Council member, went unopposed to become the first female president of the SLFA.”

She claims that Rodney Michael remains the most revered and popular football administrator in the country.

It could be recalled that Rodney Michael was disqualified from contesting for the SLFA highest office by the association’s electoral committee in March and his appeal against the decision was rejected by the Appeals board forcing him to take the matter to CAS. The SLFA elections which be the first since the current administration headed by FIFA council and CAF executive committee member, Isha Johansen came to power on 3rd August 2013 are scheduled for June 5 after two postponements this year.
