Mamoud Kamara (engineer), Alie Barrie and Amara Sesay workers of Africell made another appearance before the principal Magistrate of the Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1, Magistrate Sahr Kekura as they were dragged to court by Sierratell Company in an alleged larceny matter.
The accused were standing in on two count charge of conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The charge sheet indicated that the accused on Wednesday 3rd July 2024 at Komrabai Village Lokomasama village, Port Loko District, conspired together to commit a crime to wit Larceny.
The charges further that the accused did steal one B15 3606 CDMA 3/2 site, six Aviat Eclipse IGbps microwave link, one Dc rectifier cabinet 48v.200 Apm, twelve deep cycl VLAR Gel battery and other assorted items equivalent to the total value of three billion, nine hundred and seventy three million and seventeen thousand (3, 973,1700) property of Sierra Leone Telecommunication company.
The prosecutor ASP Dalia Wellington informed the court that the complainant is absent in court.
She added that she called the complainant who informed her that he is out of the jurisdiction.
Defense counsel Maddieu Sesay adopted the previous bail application made by W. Gabber on the previous adjournment.
He said the prosecution should treat the court with seriousness, adding that they should prove their case and it is the position of the prosecution to move on with their case.
He added that bail is to ensure that the accused appear before the court on each and every adjourned date.
Lawyer Sesay further that the accused has spent twenty seven (27) days at the Male Correctional Center putting together the time they have spent at the Criminal Investigation Department headquarters.
He further that his clients have reliable sureties who are ready to stand on their behalf.
Magistrate Kekura said he told the prosecution that this is a very serious matter and they should make progress.
He said even if the complainant is not in court but the exhibit clerk and other witnesses should be in court to testify so that the matter can proceed.
