 In a heartbreaking incident,on the  25th August, 2024 a three-year-old boy, identified as Johnloh Kallon of Mogbwemo Town, was found dead after reportedly falling into a septic tank under construction at the Resource Center in Imperi Chiefdom, Bonthe District. The incident was reported to authorities at approximately 3:02 p.m. by the local youth leader, Mr. Patrick Songa.
According to initial reports, the tragic incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. when young Johnloh Kallon was discovered motionless near the septic tank, which was left uncovered and filled with water. A worn-out Honda tire was also found lying next to the boy, further raising concerns about safety protocols at the construction site.
Upon receiving the report, a team of police officers led by Detective Police Constable 14510 Briana M, under the directive of the Local Unit Commander (LUC), Superintendent Alhaji Mustapha Senesie, swiftly moved to the scene. The officers were accompanied by the complainant and Francis Massaquoi, a Community Health Officer (CHO) attached to the Mogbwemo Town Health Center.
The CHO conducted a preliminary physical examination of the young victim. Following the examination, Johnloh’s remains were handed over to his grieving family, led by his father, Mr. Vandy Kallon. The police issued a medical request form to the family for further endorsement by a medical doctor to confirm the cause of death.
As the community mourns the loss of the young boy, the Rutile Division’s Crime Records Department (CRD) and Media Officer, Amara Kallon, have confirmed that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is underway. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution around construction sites to prevent such tragic accidents in the future.
