SIERRA LEONE CRICKET ASSOCIATION RECEIVED DONATIONS FROM EX- CRICKETERS

The Sierra Leone Cricket Association has on the 10th May 2021 received sporting items for the U-19 Cricketers ahead of World Cup qualifiers in Botswana.

According the Chief Executive Officer of the Sierra Leone Cricket Association, Francis Trevor Samura said they are elated to have received such boosts for the U-19 Cricketers ahead of the International tournament that is at hand.

He affirmed that the U-19 Cricketers will be leaving  Freetown for Njala University were the team will be camp for a month training before they will take off to  South Africa where they will benefit from  high performance training as they association does not have the Standard training items, the team will also play professional friendly matches before going to Botswana for the U-19 World Cup qualifiers.

He added that the other two senior side of the female and men team will be hosted in South Africa to get professional training from international experts that will be guiding them on different categories before going for their various competitions.

Among the sporting items they received track suit both male and female U-19 Cricketers, the Captain for the U-19 George Punde said they are happy to have received such items from Ex- Cricketers and as young Cricketers they are ready to do their best to qualify for the U-19 World Cup qualifiers.

The Association currently need $ 800,000 dollars which 800,000,000 million Leones for them to represents the Country in the International events and they are calling on the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority and other cooperate bodies to come to their aid ahead of those competitions.

They currently face with a serious challenge that has to do with finance, because they have hire experts from England, India to help the athlete’s get best training ahead of those qualifiers. The Sierra Leone Cricket Association has been one of the outstanding sporting disciplines in the Country that has brought home many laurels over the years.
