In the ongoing Sierra Leone Premier League, host Old Edwardians on the 8th May,2021 defeated affluent Bo Rangers 2-1 after coming from behind to secure a fully deserved victory.
The Elephants of Bo Rangers went into the game knowing victory will take them to the top of the Premier League, but a slack performance in the second half led to what turned out to a disappointing defeat.
Musa Noah Kamara gave the Southerners the lead in the 21st minute from Morie Alie`s long-range throw to score his second in the campaign.
The May Park Boys (Old Edwardian) recovered impressively in the second half to level the score line at Alhassan Daramy’s feet.
The dust had not settled well when Edward`s Abdulai Agha Koroma scored from the penalty spot in the 82nd minute, ending the host’s winless run as they now sit 4th in the table with 6 points after four matches played.
According to the head coach of Old Edwardian Prince Bangura “I am very much excited with my team performance. Winning at home to Bo Rangers is a massive feat for us because I am still building these young crops of players”,
He added: “Playing four matches including [the one against] FC Kallon without losing any shows how prepared the boys are in this year’s league season.”
Bo Rangers’ Coach, Dominic Konneh, congratulated Bangura for winning the match. “Their boys played well in the second half. We didn’t take our vital chances”, he pointed out.
In a related match, on Saturday at the Siaka Stevens Stadium FC Kallon defeated Mount Aureole SLIFA to secure their second in the Premier league, Saidu Fofanah second half goal was enough to give FC Kallon the desire three points as they now have eight points after four matches played.
(The Cavaliers) FC Kallon dominated the second half as Mount Aureole SLIFA went three games without a win; they have only able to secure a point after three matches played.
In the match, FC Kallon was struggling to make a breakthrough until Ibrahim Mansaray picked Saidu Fofanah out who headed the ball over Mount Aureole SLIFA’s goal to secure a win.
According to Amidu Karim the head coach of FC Kallon” after a draw with Wusum Stars in Makeni, I told my boys that the game against Mount Aureole SLIFA should be a must win” and the team delivered.
He added “the result is a good one for the team because FC Kallon is known to be title contenders. The fans want victory and that’s what we gave them.”
While the head coach of Mount Aureole SLIFA, Tamba Ngoungo said, “I appreciate my boys for the performance they put up against FC Kallon; the boys showed bravery throughout the game, save for the single mistake made by the goalkeeper in the 81st minute that caused us the goal.
On Sunday at the Parade grounds two first half goals from Adebayo back in the 16 min and a goal from Kassim S. Turay where enough to give Central Parade all three points as they defeated Bai Bureh Warriors team by two goals to one (2-1) to go top of the Premier league table as of Sunday with (9) point after three matches played.
In the final game on Sunday at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Wusum Stars a team from Makeni the Northern part of Sierra Leone, came to Freetown with determination ahead of the crunch tie against FC Johansen as goals from Sulaiman Kargbo and Alimamy Kamara in the first half where comfortable enough to defeats the host FC Johansen by two goals to nil .It is the first defeat of FC Johansen Football club in the ongoing Sierra Leone premier league.
