The Valuation Department of the Bo City Council has gone on the rampage to close the Office of the Electricity Distribution Supplying Authority (EDSA) in Bo City last week for failing to pay the property rare tax.

According to the Information Education and Communication Officer of the Bo City Council, the valuation department of the council has issued demand notices for the payment of the taxes and they have embarked on the verification to ascertain whether the people and business houses and institutions have honored the demand notices.

Mac’Ivan Kakpindi Vandi said  if the inspection team going around does not find evidences of payment and no tangible excuses given this will result in the closure of the business entity, citing examples EDSA fall under their hammer and they have closed it office for failing to pay its tax.

“If you know that you do not have demand notice make sure you go to the council and ensure that you secure your demand notice and if you have problem with the demand notice already issued like names wrongly spelt, go to the council and ensure that the problem is rectified,” he advised.

Some staff of EDSA speaking on the condition of anonymity to this medium said that there is a need to pay tax to the council but the council should not be biased as there are other big tax payers that are yet to be touched.
