The Local Unit Commander (LUC) attached to the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters in the municipality of Koidu has told our correspondent that youth’s violence is on the increase in the district, particularly in his areas of operations.
Superintendent Franklyn Bawoh made the pronouncement in an interview with our reporter on the alleged stabbing to death a nineteen (19) year old boy Osman Kai Fengai in the city of Koidu on Tuesday 20th April, 2021, leaving at least two dwelling houses burnt down with physical cash and properties worth millions of Leones destroyed in the inferno.
Substantiating this he said youth’s violence is on the increase in Kono District, L.U.C. Bawoh stated single parenting, upbringing and social orientation of children at home and school as key factors responsible for the said menace that has security threats in the district.
In their investigation into the incident that led to the sudden killing of Osman Kai Fengai alias ‘WIZZY’, the Tankoro police division Local Unit Commander (LUC) superintendent Franklyn Bawoh said, they currently having five suspects in their custody helping them with the investigation while four are on the run.
While assuring the public of security calmness in the district, superintendent Bawoh urged all and sundry to be informing the police about any violence or insecurity activities within the communities as soon as possible for their swift intervention in a bid to maintain sustainable peace and calmness in the district.
