GBOGBOAFEH SECTION IN NIMIKORO CHIEFDOM KONO DISTRICT GETS NEW CHIEF

In a highly anticipated event, Sahr Benjamin Mbayoh emerged victorious in the Gbogboafeh section chief election held in Nimikoro chiefdom, Kono District. Mbayoh secured a total of 263 votes, clinching a decisive win over his contender, Tamba Ngandi, who garnered 152 votes.

The election, overseen by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone and supervised by the Nimikoro chiefdom election Committee, took place at the town Barray of Futingaiya community, Gbogboafeh section. A total of 429 people cast their votes, with 14 invalid votes recorded.

Prior to the election, a declaration of rights ceremony was conducted by Senior District Officer Kono Augustine Fogbie in collaboration with Nimikoro chiefdom’s paramount chief, PC Aiah Denton Bona Foamansa, and other chiefdom authorities. Among the three initial aspirants—Sahr Benjamin Mbayoh, Sahr Dissa, and Tamba Ngandi—only Mbayoh and Ngandi succeeded in proceeding to the election phase.

The electoral process was characterized by calm and peaceful proceedings, as confirmed by the Media Officer and Public Relations Officer of Motema Police Divisional Headquarters, Thompson Peter Ndapi. Ndapi expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their efforts in maintaining law and order before, during, and after the event.

Sahr Benjamin Mbayoh’s victory signifies a significant development in the leadership landscape of the Gbogboafeh section of Nimikoro chiefdom, with expectations high for positive change under his tenure.
