Bo City, Southern Sierra Leone – The one-day national conference for Edify proprietors and proprietresses hosted by Edify Sierra Leone, concluded successfully on the 5th April 2024 at Njala Avenue in Bo. The event featured an overview and welcome address by the Country Director of Edify Sierra Leone, Rev. Dr. Samuel G.A Kargbo.
Rev. Dr. Kargbo emphasized Edify’s mission to enhance and expand sustainable Christ-centered education globally, aiming to foster flourishing godly nations. Highlighting their endeavors in Freetown, he announced the relocation of their program to Bo this year, having trained over 350 proprietors and proprietresses nationwide.
The transformational impact of Edify in Sierra Leone was underscored, with numerous schools benefiting from their initiatives, including orientation, core school development, and champion school programs. Currently, Edify is collaborating with 904 schools, with 821 proprietors and proprietresses trained, and 1,661 teachers receiving training. Additionally, 183 schools accessed the school development loan, amounting to Le 8,556,790.00. Rev. Dr. Kargbo also emphasized Edify’s registration with legal organizations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Looking ahead, Rev. Dr. Kargbo disclosed plans to facilitate transitions for students leaving Edify schools to enroll in God-fearing institutions. He urged Edify school chapters to explore partnerships with additional schools to expand their impact further.
The conference featured presentations on the pivotal role of Christ-centered education in nation-building by Vice President Wondim Makonen and the significance of education technology by Bright. Bright warned of potential job losses due to technological advancements in the next 20 years, urging attendees to prioritize technology in educational strategies.
Testimonials from four schools underscored the rapid transformation experienced through Edify’s interventions, particularly in administrative functions and overall school development.
The conference served as a platform for stakeholders to exchange insights, strategies, and successes, reaffirming Edify Sierra Leone’s commitment to advancing education and fostering holistic development across the nation.
