Search at Admire Bio’s Home Yields No Kush Ingredients-Says SLP

In a recent update provided at the regular police press conference on Thursday, April 4th, 2024, the Sierra Leone Police revealed significant progress in their ongoing efforts to combat illegal drug activities in the country.

The Sierra Leone Police’s intelligent search unit conducted a thorough investigation at the residence of Admire Bio and her husband Dauda Jalloh following allegations of possession of kush ingredients. However, the search yielded no evidence to support the claims, indicating an unsuccessful operation in this regard.

Director of Crime Services, Ibrahim Joseph Lahai, reported a more fruitful endeavor at the Queen Elizabeth Terminal in Freetown, where authorities intercepted two containers loaded with kush ingredients. Subsequently, six individuals suspected to be involved in the importation were apprehended and are currently in police custody pending further investigation. The containers have been handed over to the management of the Sierra Leone Port and Harbour Authority.

Furthermore, arrests were made at the Freetown International Airport for the illegal importation of Tramadol. Nine suspects have been detained for investigation.

Director Lahai emphasized the commitment of the Sierra Leone Police and the Judiciary to enforce the National Drugs Control Act of 2008, ensuring accountability for those convicted of drug-related offenses.

Assistant Inspector General and Director of Professional Standards of Sierra Leone Police, Sahr Yumba Senesi, called upon the general public to collaborate with law enforcement to eradicate the spread of kush throughout Sierra Leone. He highlighted the police force’s dedication to maintaining standards and professionalism in combating such detrimental substances.

Meanwhile, Sylvester Koroma, Assistant Inspector General and Regional Commander Freetown-West, addressed a separate incident involving theft and the use of locally assembled weapons. Three individuals were implicated in the burglary of unspecified individuals’ home, during which electronic devices, jewelry, and other valuables were stolen. Cherinor Jalloh and Gibrella Kamara have been sentenced to 88 years imprisonment each, while Strasser King is held as an accessory to the crime. Their recent escape from the Pademba Road Correctional Centre prompted further investigation and custody.

Additionally, AIG Koroma cautioned the public to adhere to laws, particularly at checkpoints across the country, as stringent measures will be enforced to curb the illegal transportation of drugs.

Heads of various provincial regions echoed their commitment to collaborating with local communities to eliminate and apprehend kush importers and dealers, emphasizing collective efforts in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse.

The Sierra Leone Police’s continued vigilance and proactive measures underscore their determination to combat the scourge of illegal drugs, safeguarding the well-being of the nation and its citizens.
