In a bold move against the proliferation of the lethal synthetic drug KUSH, Sierra Leone has launched a national task force spearheaded by Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh. The initiative, announced during a Town Hall Meeting held on April 2, 2024, aims to mobilize all sectors of society in the fight against this growing menace.
Vice President Jalloh addressed the pressing concerns surrounding KUSH’s impact on Sierra Leonean society, stressing the critical need for a comprehensive strategy to confront the issue. He emphasized the devastating consequences of the drug and rallied for a unified effort against its distribution and usage.
As Chairman of the Police Council, Vice President Jalloh issued a directive to deny bail to individuals apprehended in connection with KUSH-related offenses. Additionally, two magistrates have been assigned to expedite legal proceedings specifically for cases involving this dangerous substance.
Recent developments in the fight against KUSH were also disclosed during the Town Hall Meeting. Vice President Jalloh revealed that law enforcement agencies successfully seized two containers linked to the drug, resulting in the arrest of seven individuals involved in its distribution.
The establishment of the national task force underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to eradicating the KUSH menace.
