Police Witness Testifies in Court

Detective Officer 1516 Conteh A. attached to the crime exhibit office at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has testified before Marke Ngegba in Freetown on the 4th May, 2021 at the Pademba Road Court in Freetown in a case involving Alhaji Sheku (the first accused person), Ibrahim Turay (second accused person), and Wahid Hider (the third accused person) all charged with five count charges ranging from conspiracy, kidnapping, wounding, assault etc.

Testifying in court the witness said he knew the accused persons. Witness said he was on duty on 1st February, 2021 at the CID headquarters when Sargent 6166 Karim J.M attached to Homicide department at the CID headquarter handed to him a 4G memory card in respect of this case. Witness said he took possession of and registered it as against 21/2021. The witness said since then the 4G memory card was under police custody. The witness produced and tendered the 4 G memory card to the court.

Under cross examination, defense Lawyer Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai asked the witness if he was the one on the duty when he received the 4G memory stick. Witness said yes. Defense counsel put to the witness that a memory stick was brought to him, but failed to watch it to make sure if it contains a video clip or not. The witness said yes.

The State prosecutor A.T Bangura applied for projector through the master and Registrar for the video to be shown on screen to the court on the next adjourned date. The State prosecutor application was granted by the Magistrate. The prosecutor for the case is A.T Bangura while Lawyer Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai represented the three accused persons. The matter has been adjourned to the 24th May, 2021.
