Former Minister Finda Diana Konomanyi, known for her religious generosity, has once again extended her charitable hand, donating essential items to the Council of Imams in Kono District as part of her yearly Ramadan gesture. This donation included twenty-five 50kg bags of rice, praying mats, kettles, and a sum of ten million old Leones, presented at her residence in Koidu City.
Madam Konomanyi, emphasizing her dedication to religious matters, highlighted her decades-long commitment to supporting the Muslim community in Kono District. She expressed regret for not continuing her tradition of preparing daily meals at different mosques within Koidu municipality this year but stressed that the objective of her gesture was solely to invoke prayers for the prosperity of Kono District, dissociating it from any political motives.
Addressing concerns about tribalism, Madam Konomanyi urged all tribes in Kono District to promote religious tolerance for peaceful coexistence, citing the detrimental effects of tribalism witnessed in other countries like Rwanda. She condemned intra-party conflicts with tribal undertones and called for unity to foster national development.
Alhaji Mohamed Tamba Lebbie, Secretary-General of the Inter-Council of Imams in Kono District, expressed gratitude on behalf of the council, noting Madam Konomanyi’s consistent support for the Muslim community during Ramadan. He assured that the donated items would be distributed among the council executives across nine zones in Koidu municipality, pledging to promote peace and denounce tribalism in their mosques.
Lebbie urged others to follow Madam Konomanyi’s example of goodwill and encouraged adherence to the sanctity of Ramadan, especially in light of ongoing global challenges. He concluded by emphasizing the importance of unity and religious harmony in Kono District.
