An elderly woman believe to be in her late 70’s, Haja Iye Jalloh has narrated before Magistrate Wilbri Hamida Moria John of Ross Road court in Freetown how her fifth son Ibrahim Jalloh manhandled her and damage some of her properties after taking drug named B13.
Explaining on oath, the old woman said on Friday 16th of April 2021 she was at home sleeping when she heard people screaming outside the window she immediately she rose from her bed and upon reaching out side, she saw her son the accused holding an armful implement chasing passersby and threatening to kill.
“When I saw my son in such mood I was terrified and the first thing that comes to mind was to calm him in order to avoid any problem.”
She further explained that she was in the process of calming down her son, when the accused person turned against her with invectives.
With tears flowing down her cheeks the witness said in no time the accused fall down on her and started kicking her from point to point.
The witness said as soon as the accused noticed that their neighbors have surfaced to rescue her, he went on the rampage and started throwing stone on the windows, and damaged properties valued millions of Leones.
In continuation of her testimony, the old woman in a nervous mood told the Bench that she has done her best to transform her son but to no avail.
She disclosed that both of them have not been in good terms for very long time, matter which according to her the police attached to their community have fed up to settle.
The old woman in conclusion begged the Bench to use her description and act like a mother to send the accused on remand in order for her to breathe, peace.
“The old woman said she no longer understand her son and will never entertain his actions because it could be fatal one day” she stressed up. At the dock, the accused pleaded with his mother for have mercy and promise not to disturb her anymore.
Magistrate Wilbri Hamida Moria John gave no further thought to his action, but order for him to be remanded at the male correctional Center.
Matter adjoined to the 3rd May 2021 for the prosecution to unfold.
