Einoh Sesay, a driver, made his first appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 on Tuesday, February 13th, 2024, for allegedly killing Alpha Kabbay Rogers while driving. The accused was arraigned before the court on two counts: manslaughter contrary to law and careless and inconsiderate driving, as per section 101 of the Road Traffic Act no.5 of 2007.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Saturday, January 27th, 2024, along Signal Hill Road in Freetown, Einoh Sesay, being the driver in control of a Renault vehicle with registration number AKS 531, unlawfully killed Alpha Kabbay Rogers. Additionally, on the same day, the charge sheet further stated that Einoh Sesay drove in a careless and inconsiderate manner, resulting in the death of Alpha Kabbay Rogers who was riding an AVO 841 Hilux motorbike.
After the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Isatu Baba Musa, sought an adjournment date, citing the absence of her witnesses in court. Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and remanded the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to February 20th, 2024, for the prosecution to open their case.
