46-year-old Kabba Dumbuya, a motor mechanic and businessman, appeared once again before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on two counts of charges, namely Murder and Incitement, contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the particulars of the offense, on diverse dates between the 13th and 14th of October 2023 at Finnah Drive off Benguema Road, Waterloo, in the Western Rural Area of Freetown, Kabba Dumbuya allegedly murdered Samuel Turay. Additionally, on the same date and place, the accused person allegedly conducted himself in a violent manner, creating a scene that agitated the family members of Farrah Turay, resulting in the unlawful killing of Farrah Turay’s younger brother, Samuel Turay.
During his first appearance, when the charges were read and explained to Kabba Dumbuya, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy, led five witnesses, including the focal witness who narrated the ordeal.
Counsel representing the accused person submitted a no-case submission in court and renewed previous bail applications on behalf of the accused person.
The prosecutor opposed the submission made by the defense counsel with an affidavit in opposition to bail.
Magistrate Bangura, in his ruling, stated that the prosecution had adduced sufficient evidence to warrant a committal of the matter to the High Court. Consequently, the accused person was committed to the High Court without bail. Sergeant 9155 Dwight Macarthy continued to prosecute the matter.
