Samuel Koroma, a Masoner, made his first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kehkura of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on 2 count charges, namely House Breaking and Larceny, contrary to section 26(i) of the Larceny Act of 1916, and Burglary and Larceny, contrary to section 25(1) and 13(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offense, on Wednesday, 27th December 2023, at C14 Wilberforce Barracks, Freetown, the accused entered into the dwelling house of Wuya Fofanah, also known as Chairlady, and stole properties valued at Six Hundred and Ten new Leones (Le 610).
On count two, the accused, on the same date and place, committed theft by taking one purse containing the fiscal sum of Five Thousand new Leones (Le 5,000) and one gold-plated wristwatch and necklace valued at Three Hundred and Fifty new Leones (Le 350), which belonged to the said complainant.
When the charges were read and explained to the accused person, no plea was taken. The accused person was unrepresented by a legal representative. Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and adjourned the matter to the 31st January 2024 for further hearing. Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai is prosecuting the matter.
