In a recent court proceeding, 32-year-old Francis Sesay, a mechanic, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura at Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown. He faced a charge of larceny under Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
The particulars of the offence state that on various dates between December 1st and December 31st, 2023, at Charles Street in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused stole a maroon Mitsubishi vehicle bearing registration number ALU 556, valued at thirty thousand Leones (Le 30,000). The vehicle was the property of Alimamy Kamara.
Upon the reading and explanation of the charge to the accused, Francis Sesay pleaded guilty. Inspector Sellu TAP, the prosecutor, informed the bench that the accused had no previous criminal records.
Despite the lack of a criminal history, Magistrate Kekura denied bail and remanded the accused to the male correctional center in Freetown for record-keeping and to await sentencing. The case has been adjourned to January 22, 2024.
