Foday Mubalie Football Academy U-12 And U-14 Teams Triumph In Opening Matches

Foday Mubalie Football Academy’s U-12 and U-14 teams both secured victories in their opening matches of the SLFA National Youth Development League in Kambia District. The U-12 side triumphed with a 1-0 scoreline against KATARA FC, while the U-14 side secured a 3-0 win against the same opponent.

Abdulai I Kamara, wearing jersey number 9 for Foday Mubalie Football Academy U-12, made history by scoring the first goal of the tournament. He was awarded the Man of the Match certificate by the Kambia District Football Association.

The teams are set to meet again on January 6, 2024, at the Rokupr Centre field for the return leg encounter. The competition format, as explained by the Chairman of KADFA, follows a knockout home-and-away basis. Winner’s progress to the next level, with the semi-final stage based on proximity. The ultimate goal is to reach the finals, and the top two teams will qualify for the National Sierra Leone Football Association Development League.

A total of 13 U-14 sides and 6 U-12 sides have registered for the Kambia District Football Association Regional competitions. The Chairman assures that the competition will be transparent, credible, and competitive.

Foday Kamara, the CEO of Foday Mubalie Football Academy, expressed satisfaction with the outstanding performance of the boys in the opening ceremony. He believes that the academy’s boys have the potential to reach the grand finals of the regional competitions.

The return leg match between Foday Mubalie Football Academy’s U-12 and U-14 sides is scheduled for January 6, 2024, at the Rokupr Centre field.
