Witness Testifies in Case of Leaked Classified Information

Police Witness attached to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Detective 15105 A.Sesay was in court to testify in a matter involving Police officers; Foday Momoh Kargbo and Abu Bakarr Sesay who appeared before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of court No. two in Freetown on the 23rd April, 2021 to answer to an allegation of leaking classified documents.

The accused persons are said to have allegedly leaked  a sensitive document sent to Inspector General of Police for extradition of some criminals that escaped from one of the neighboring countries to Sierra Leone contrary to the Laws of the land. The witness said he recognized the accused persons.

The witness said he was duty on the 5th February, 2020 when a matter was transferred to him for investigation. He said during the cause of the investigation, a report was received from the Cyber Crime Unit concerning social media information. The witness continues that he received four different mobile phones and later sent the items to the Cyber Crime Unit. Witness continued that he obtained statements from both accused persons separately. He said the first accused person was cautioned, questioned, and obtained a voluntarily statement from him in Krio and recorded it in English. At the end of the statement, he read and explained to him which he admitted to be true by affixing his right thumb finger print.

He said he did the same for the second accused person.

Joan Bull Esq represented the State while M.S.Koroma represented the two accused persons.
