East End Lions made the decision to part ways with Coach Charlie Wright on December 19, 2023, after seven games in charge, culminating in a 1-0 away defeat by Ports Authority. This defeat marked Wright’s first of the season, as he had drawn five and won only one match since taking over two months ago. Despite the addition of new players to the squad this season, the Lions have dropped to 10th in the Premier League, trailing 13 points behind leaders Bo Rangers.

The decision to part ways with Coach Charlie Wright was announced on Wednesday following careful consideration, acknowledging his significant contribution and dedication to the club during his tenure. Assistant Coach Raymond Gerard Hunter will step in as the interim coach to provide stability during this transitional period.

Raymond Gerard Hunter’s first match in charge will be on December 24th against Freetown City Council at the Trade Centre field. The upcoming match is expected to be a challenging encounter for the club.

After his departure, Coach Charlie Wright expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to coach the best team in the country. He extended his appreciation to the hardworking players who always put the club first, the fans who dedicated their time to watch training sessions and matches at the Trade Centre field, and the executive and the club’s technical team. Wright, an experienced figure in football coaching, has been associated with various clubs, including FC Kallon, over the course of his career.
