Twenty-four years old Alimamy Kanu a business man made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Conspiracy to defraud and causing money to be paid by means of false pretenses.
According to the particulars of offence on a date between 1st to 31st August 2023 at Crespo Night club, Yams Farm, the western area in Freetown with intent to defraud conspired together and with other persons unknown to defraud Saidu Sesay the sum of Thirty three million eight hundred thousand old Leones(33,800,000) by falsely pretending that he will facilitate a trip for him to Canada, knowing same to be false.
On count two, the accused person on the above date and place caused the sum of thirty three million eight hundred thousand old Leones (33,800,000) to be paid to Mohamed Marrah by saidu sesay by falsely pretending that the said Mohamed Marrah will facilitate a trip for Saidu Sesay to Canada for job opportunity knowing same to be false.
When the charges was read and explained to the accused person and No plea was taken.
The prosecutor sought for a short adjournment date for him to get proper conference with his witness.
Meanwhile Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to the 1st December 2023 for further hearing Inspector Sellu TAP is prosecuting the matter.
