NaCSA, 1OM To Implement Job Creation Project For Youths

National Commission for Social Action in partnership with International Organization for Migration (IOM) has resolved to implement Youth Empowerment and Community Engagement Project on Wednesday 22rd November 2023 in Freetown.

During the courtesy discourse around the talked-about project, Ambassador Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina, Commissioner General of NaSCA said the operations of International Organization for Migration (IOM) is to enhance the existing relationship acquired by the two institutions overtime. He added that the visit would reinforce NaCSA’s commitment to jointly implement project for the sustainability of youths livelihood and jobs creation.

“The project echoes the need to involve the Presidential Adviser on Youths affairs, the Ministry of Youth Affair and the National Youth Commission especially during the launching ceremony, ” Commissioner Ndomahina mentioned.

He furthered that with IOM Sierra Leone and the National Commission for Social Action would surely actualize the proposed project which is expected to commence early December 2023.

NaCSA’s Commissioner General commented on the significance to develop a roadmap for the pilot phase of the project. Commissioner Ndomahina revealed that the project is primed to be implemented within 24 months period.

The Head of Office gave an overview of IOM operations in the country including the Combatting Irregular Migration through Youth Empowerment and Community Engagement Project. This Project, he noted aims at contributing to reducing the push factors towards rural to urban and irregular migration through an inclusive and gender responsive approach to enhancing job creation and livelihood opportunities for youth in Sierra Leone.

Christos Chrisodoulides, Head of Office for International Organization for Migration in Sierra Leone said their commitment and operations in the country are rooted on combating irregular migration; emphasizing that the Youth Empowerment and Community Engagement Project examines their shared vision in terms of providing the necessary measures for the youthful population in the country.

He stated that the project aims at contributing to reducing the push factors towards rural to urban and irregular migration through an Inclusive and gender responsive approach to enhancing job creation and livelihood opportunities for the youths in Sierra Leone. “I would applause NaCSA for the warm discourse and the its willingness to implementing the project,” Mr. Christodoulides said
