President Bio has launched the resuscitated Network of Women Ministers and Parliamentarians in Sierra Leone (NeWMaP), on Tuesday 21st November 2023.
It is an initiative that seeks to build stronger alliances among female Government-appointed Ministers and elected Parliamentarians to promote the representation of women and their full and equal participation in political and parliamentary leadership.
The relaunch of NeWMaP is in furtherance of my Government’s commitment to fostering gender equality, empowering women, and ensuring their active participation in shaping the future of Sierra Leone.
During the launch, president Bio charged the leadership and members to use the platform to amplify the voices of women in decision-making processes, address gender-specific challenges, and work towards legislative reforms that promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, among other things.
He also used the occasion to restate his Government’s unflinching commitment to the advancement of gender issues across the country and also pledged his support towards the success of NeWMaP as the Principal He-For-She Champion in the Republic of Sierra Leone.
