40 Years old Mark George a medical representative of Evans Baroque Pharmaceutical Company was on Tuesday 14th November 2023 drag to court before magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No1 for an alleged 80 Million old Leones theft.
The accused Mark George made his first appearance in court and was arraigned on one count charge of Embezzlement contrary to section 17(1) of the larceny Act 1916.
According to the indictments, the accused on a date unknown between January 2022 and September 2022 in Freetown fraudulently embezzled the total sum of eighty millions old Leones worth of pharmaceutical drugs received by him on account of Evans Baroque pharmaceuticals SL Ltd of No 15 Lamina Sankoh street Freetown.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused by the court clerk, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor ASP Ibrahim S Mansaray informed the court that, his witness the complainant was absent and therefore could not proceed with the matter in the circumstance requested for an adjournment to subpoena the witness.
Lawyer S Turay applied for bail on behalf of the accused pursuant to section 79 sub section 3 of the criminal procedure Act No32 of 1965.
Magistrate Ngegba however granted the accused bail in the sum of 150 thousand new Leones and two sureties in like sum to be approved by the master and registrar.
Whiles the matter was adjourned to the 28th November 2023 for further hearing.
