The Head Coach of the senior National team Leone Stars Amidu Karim has named his 24-man squad ahead of Leone Stars clash with Ethiopia and Egypt.
After sweeping gains in the last two friendlies, the experienced, forward-looking Coach Karim named 24 players to form Leone Stars final squad on Friday ahead of Sierra Leone’s World Cup 2026 qualifier matches.
Sierra Leone will play Ethiopia on 15th November, 2023, in Casablanca Morocco before hosting Egypt on the 19th in Monrovia, Liberia.
Announcing the 24-man squad, Coach Karim commended the National Team Scout, Morlai Kamara, for helping them identify Sierra Leone players plying their trade abroad.
He said: “Our friendly matches against Benin and Somalia helped us also identify players. It was not a jolly ride at all. I would like to thank the SLFA and government for making that possible.
“These two matches are crucial, so we have to bring in the best. Certain players who were called for the friendlies are not included in this squad because of certain technical reasons,” he said.
Amidu Karim ended by calling on Sierra Leoneans to give their 100% support to the team as he prepares to qualify Sierra Leone to their first World Cup.
