Sierra Leone took a big step towards the Sydney Australia Africa Cup of Nations knock-out stage with a 3-0 victory over Mauritius on Saturday night, making it two wins in three matches at the Sydney Wanderers Complex at Blacktown to move top of Group B with 7 points.
Saidu Turay aka Tombo opened the scoring after a superb run to registered his second goal in the campaign. Althani exyended took the lead before Brima Kamara sealed the all-important victory for his side.
Head coach of Sierra Leone Yusuf Kamara however expressed his delight after his side’s victory.
“There is so much excitement in it. We have to make massive steps, we have to grow, we have to do a lot of things but a lot of the signs are really promising.”
“How the team interacts with each other is really nice because when you talk about a rebuild of the team it’s all about the things you see on the pitch, obviously, but to see that there has to be a rebuild off the pitch as well and that’s going really well.”
He continued “Training sessions are compulsory, so I want implore all to be consistent in our training sessions because if you do not show up then you’ll not make the match day squad. If you also fail to show up on time on match day I will have no alternative because the offender/s will start on the bench.”
Sierra Leone will entertain Zimbabwe in match day four.
