Alleged Theft: Police Tenders Exhibit

19 years old John Richard Conteh made another appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on three count charges ranging from Larceny in Dwelling house contrary to section 13 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on a date between the years of 2022 and 2023 at No.3 Cemetery road Adonkia Freetown the western area in Freetown within to steal entered into the dwelling house of Rugiatu Tarawalie Mustapha and stole therein one square gold box, necklace, earring, bracelet, and other items all to the total sum of two billion three hundred and twelve million three hundred and sixty-one thousand old Leones (Le 2,312,361) property of Rugiatu Tarawalie Mustapha.

Count two on the above years and place the accused person entered into the dwelling house of Memunatu said complainant with intent to stole therein one digital camera, one Africell Wi-fi, one woofer speaker and other items all to the total sum of twenty six thousand two hundred and ten Leones(26,210) Property of Morie Saffa, and on count three the accused person entered into the dwelling house of the said complainant and stole therein one Kath wrist watch, assorted items with physical cash of two thousand new Leones all to the total sum of twenty seven thousand eight hundred and fifty Leones( Le 27,850) property of Aminata Mabondo Amara.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused person on his first appearance; no plea was taken.

Chief Superintendent of police Juan M S Bull led third Prosecution witness (PW3) Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara attached to the exhibit office at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters Pademba Road Freetown.

PW3 said some of his duties are to register exhibit relating to matters that has been investigated and charged to court. The witness recall on the 3rd August 2023 DPC 13143 Momoh X attached at the breaking and larceny office at the said office handed over to him the following items one old big black bag, one old small black bag, one packet photo frame one old pair ladies sandal, one packet hair shaper, one packet press toothpaste, one bottle jell, one gold silver Colour wrist watch, one packet candle, one old gold colour ladies watch, two used bottle spray, one packet tie soap, one old towel, and two ladies dress the said items was registered in the court exhibit book against serial number RCE 86/2023 since then they were in the custody of the police the said exhibits was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Ngegba refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown and matter adjourned to the 13th November 2023.
