In a swift and highly efficient operation, legitimate Liberian citizens residing in Sierra Leone who crossed the border to cast their votes in Liberia on October 10, 2023, have safely returned to their homeland.
The operation was conducted under the oversight of AIG South, Mr. Brima Kanneh, in collaboration with the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) and other border security agencies, with invaluable support from the Joint Security Forces stationed at the border.
Thanks to the well-coordinated efforts of the joint security forces, the repatriation of these Sierra Leonean voters unfolded smoothly and without a hitch.
The operation played a pivotal role in ensuring the secure passage of these Liberian back to their home country after exercising their fundamental democratic right in a neighboring nation.
AIG South, Mr. Brima Kanneh, expressed his satisfaction with the operation, underscoring the significance of interagency and collaboration in preserving peace and security in the region.
The triumphant return of these citizens underscores the unwavering dedication of the security forces within the Mano River Division to upholding the rule of law and guaranteeing the safety of the people.
The Information Officer of Mano River Division, MRD, confirmed the incident and reported that aside from this seamless operation, no other significant incidents were recorded.
The safe return of Sierra Leonean voters stands as a testament to the synergistic endeavors of the security forces and reinforces the commitment to safeguarding the rights and security of the citizens within the Mano River Division.
