Leone Stars Technical Team has invited 25-man squad ahead of international football Friendlies in Morocco.
Sierra Leone Senior National team Leone Stars is set to starts their Africa World Cup campaign with two international Friendlies against Benin and Somalia on the 14th October and 17th October 2023 respectively.
According to the Acting General Secretary of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Mohamed Benson Bawoh said the two international Friendlies will help the Technical Team chance to pick out players that will make the final list for World Cup campaign in November against Ethiopia away from home and Egypt at home in Liberia.
He affirmed there are some players who has been invited to play for the National team while some players have documentation issues that needs to be resolved, noting some players are going to play in the FIFA sanction match while others will be featured in the non FIFA sanction match as this will give an opportunity for others players to demonstrate their skills at the international stage.
The newly appointed head coach, Amidu Karim said the invited players will give the Technical Team more insight to identify new faces and give others the chance to represent their country during the World Cup campaign, noting that he has traced most the players invited and has been around the National team and with experience he is confident that they are going to give the desired results.
The Head Coach and the Technical Team invited 10 local players and 15 foreign based players that will be featured against Benin and Somila on the 14th and the 17th October 2023.
To ensure best preparation and undoubted readiness going into the 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa Qualifiers, the Sierra Leone Football Association with support from the government of Sierra Leone has successfully concluded arrangements for two friendly matches in Casablanca Morocco against Benin and Somalia on the 14th and 17th of October 2023 respectively.
The said friendlies will help the newly appointed technical team to better understand and bring into play a formidable squad against Ethiopia and Egypt in the World Cup qualifiers in November this year.
