Despite the ugly incident that happened on Monday at IPAM, about seven hundred and seventy nine (779) Students of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) – University of Sierra Leone have on Wednesday 14th April 2021successfuly and gracefully graduated from the University of Sierra Leone. The ceremony which took place at the historic Samuel Adjai Crowder Amphitheater Fourah Bay College campus was well attended by the University’s authorities, grandaunts and well-wishers with the presence of very high level of security.
Addressing the congregation, the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone, Brigadier-Gen. Professor Foday Sahr outlined a number of transformative strides taken by the University over the recent past such as E-Learning, infrastructure, capacitating staff of the University among others. He said the university is marching towards reclaiming it past glory, adding that it could not be achieved in a hurry, but rather progressively.
The Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone cautioned the new graduates to go to the universe and represent themselves and the university well by effectively putting into practice what they have learnt over the years, adding that they must not forget to give back support to the university especially the institution that trained them.
Speaking to A-Z newspaper, Saidu Kallah Fofanah, one of the graduates who graduated with Bachelor of Science with Honors in Banking and Finance expressed excitement and thanked God and family members especially his mother for having stood by him right through the course. Saidu Kallah Fofanah like any other studious student noted that the journey has not been rosary but remained grateful to have come thus far.
It was very stressful and demanding, there were times I got sick because I had to go to very cold places just to study and get the kind of degree I have today, but thank God I have it now,” he said.
Parents, guardians, loved ones, friends and relatives all witnessed and celebrated with the new graduates taking lots of photos.
The whole congregation ceremony was done in an extremely peaceful atmosphere with a very favorable weather too.
