A scene of demonstration against the long overdue leadership of the Sierra Leone traders union (SLTU) Kono District has allegedly left one popular business woman in Koidu city, Kumba Jabbie with broken hand. Talking to our correspondent, Madam Jabbie who is said to be the head of the aforesaid demonstration maintained that the demonstration was done in order to tell all and sundry especially stakeholders their dissatisfaction over the long staying in office by the executive members of the Sierra Leone Traders Union Kono Branch with the following maladministration: lack of accountability and transparency. She said whilst the demonstration was going on at the forefront of the Traders Union office at Gbense Market in Koidu city a man identified as Foday Sesay pushed her and she fell down and broke her right hand.
She further told our correspondent that the objective of the said demonstration was to oust in office the present executive of the Sierra Leone Traders Union – Kono Branch and to also urge them to account for all the monies they have collected from the market women in Kono District. Responding to the allegations made by Madam Kumba Jabbie the embattled chairman of the Sierra Leone Traders Union – Kono District, David William Sesay noted that the allegations were not correct noting that those who demonstrated were jealous of their colleagues who are to benefit from a loan facility which they referred to as a fake loan.
According to him, the demonstration was purposely done in order to destabilize the benefits of the loan facility which many of them never believed it was coming to happen. Meanwhile, police at the Tankoro Divisional headquarters are investigating the said matter wherein a committee has been set by the mayor of the Koidu New Sembehun City Council, Komba Mathew Sam to tentatively mend the affairs of the Union as Police investigation into the said matter continues.
