For over nine years, the Pleasant Foundation Sierra Leon (PFS) under the watchful eyes of its CEO and Founder Miss Marian Pleasant Kargbo has been on a mission to make education accessible and meaningful for less privileged children in three communities in the Western Area Rural of Freetown: Rokel, Devil Hole, and Waterloo.

Pleasant Foundation Sierra Leon (PFS) donated School learning materials over the weekend at the Western-Rural Rokel, Kondoloh community.

Madam Kargbo said “We’re thrilled to share that our recent donation drive was a success! Thanks to the support of our incredible donors and volunteers, we were able to provide 250 deserving kids with essential supplies, including bags, uniforms, books, pens, and pencils”. She furthers by stating that the items donated are more than just school supplies; they represent hope, opportunity, and the chance for these young minds to soar and stay in school.

CEO Kargbo had a heartwarming message for the less privileged kids.  She reminded them that while they are receiving these items for free, it’s not a free pass – it’s an investment in their future which is being paid for by individuals that believe in her work. “Girls are encouraged to stay focused on their education, dreams, and aspirations, avoiding early pregnancies and prioritizing their education which can lead to a brighter future, Boys should always remember that education is your weapon against the challenges in your deprived communities. Stay in school, avoid gambling and drugs, and be the change you want to see”, she intimated.

Additionally, the Executive Secretary of P.F.S, Miss Constance Tieh identifies that they have been donating educational assistance to orphans, teenage mothers and less privilege kids for a long period of time to erase the discriminatory factor and show that every child must have an equal right to education as that is the vision of the CEO. She furthers that the work of the foundation is not only limited to the rural areas but is now spreading out to the whole country and reminded that the funding of this whole donation is not to rip anyone out of their resources but just a charity based that is done by the vibrant activist, C.E.O of the foundation as they always seek to put a smile on the faces of every children in the country.

In another lens, Tieh maintains that it is very challenging due to the economic situation in the country and the world which has really made them not to relent but to continue speaking with people that has been a huge source of support to their vision, as even they are doing the celebration for the ninth and they will continue to ensure that they provide support at all time.  She ended by advising all the children to show the evidence of the support that is being provided to them as anytime they are being sent to school they should be focused and perform outstandingly.

Fatima G Fofanah, a beneficiary of Pleasant’s Foundation donation expressed gratitude and appreciation to the CEO for her continued support, saying “ I have been receiving this assistance since I was in class 1 and presently in SS 2, this is an opportunity I believe all of us should embrace with our hearts and to  continue  praying  that God continues to protect and provide for her organization.”

CEO, Madam Pleasant also advised parents and guardians to ensure that they should always give the necessary support to their kids at all time so that they will be focused and become important personalities in the future.

She ended by re-affirming the mandate of Pleasant Foundation Sierra Leone and their commitment to support education and promote nation building in Sierra Leone.

“At Pleasant Foundation Sierra Leone, we believe in promoting Education without Discrimination. We track the progress of our beneficiaries and welcome new faces into our family each year. Together, we are building a brighter tomorrow,” she concluded.
