Persistent call for the review of the 2023 Presidential election result from opposition quarters to form part of the dialogue between the APC and SLPP has been described as out of place by the ruling party’s Deputy Chairman of the Southern Region, Abdulai Bun Wai,noting that election results should not be part of the discussion rather the APC should bring on the table other demands.
“Underlining issues like their representation or misrepresentation in Parliament is fit for discussion during the all-important upcoming dialogue not about holding another election down the line after government has settled down”, Bun Wai intimated during the popular Kol Res online program.
He stressed that there is a lot of misinformation about the proposed dialogue that it would look into the results announced by the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) which has the constitutional mandate to conduct and announce election results. He called on those he referred to as APC propagandists to tailor their propaganda accordingly not to raise public tension for the good of the country. “Even if fresh election is conducted, SLPP will beat APC hands down”, the firebrand politician submitted.
In his submission, APC strongman, Ismail Al-Sankoh Conteh maintained that the dialogue should look into irregularities in the previous election which he said should not be swept under the carpet but dealt with categorically during the dialogue forum.
He said his party’s demands are genuine and they are ready to dialogue for the good of the people of Sierra Leone.
Having taken over one hundred days since re-election, the Government of President Maada Bio had appointed the Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh to lead the process of reconciliation.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mohamed Bangura and Hon Thompson have been literally suspended by the APC party for taking the seats for which they were elected.
It could be recalled that the APC, except for two Members of Parliament boycotted parliamentary seat casting aspersions on the outcome of the result.
