For Destroying Of EDSA Underground Cables: 36 Yrs-Old Sentenced To 6months Imprisonment

36 years old Abdulraham Sesay a business man made another appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on a count of Damaging Supply Line contrary to the section 73 of the National electricity Act No.16 of 2011.

According to the particulars of offence on the 24th August 2023 at Spur loop Wilberforce the western area in Freetown willfully damage a 70mm electricity distribution and supply Authority (EDSA) underground jidder copper cable supply line.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused person; he pleaded guilty.

Deputy Superintendent of police Marie Sesay led first Prosecution (PW1) Sergeant 8576 Issa Kamara attached to the exhibit office at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarters Pademba Road Freetown.

He said some of his duties are to receive and register exhibit relating to matters that has been investigated and charged to court and recall on the 31st August 2023 that he was on duty at the said office when Sergeant 10109 Jengo DB handed over to him one old black 70mm underground cable and one old Aesan blade.

PW1 said the said exhibit was registered in the court exhibit book against serial number 97/2023 the exhibit was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.

The prosecutor told the bench that fact as charge no available records against the accused person the accused person was unrepresented by legal representative, therefore, he pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.

 Magistrate Gogra sentenced the accused person to six months imprisonment or to pay a fine two thousand new Leones to the state.
