Residential Elders Care Foundation has joined the United Nations and other partners to commemorate international Day for Older people which is celebrated on the 1st of October every year.
The distributed of the Cottons milk was held at the Municipal Senior Secondary School Compound the East end of Freetown.
As part of the commemoration the Foundation distributed over 250 cottons of milk to over two hundred people from four Communities across Freetown.
Karifa Kello Thoronka the Chief Executive Officer said the Residential Elders Care Foundation for the aged has started operation in 2020 across the Country and the aim and objective of the is to care for the aged in remote communities across the Sierra Leone.
Noting that 1st October every year has been day celebrated for the older person across the globe and it is based on that ground they joined other Countries to celebrated the day by bring older people from four communities across Freetown.
He affirmed that the Foundation gets their Support from Miksi Chocolate, 34 Military Hospital, and Divine Company and it based on those support they used to give to the aged the invited, noting that they support they aged with medical Health Support from the 34 Military Hospital.
They also gave food support they received from Divine Company who gave out Cremela Milk that is very good for the aged and has a lot of nutrients in it.
They gave out to over two hundred people from the Four Communities.
He furthered that, the beneficial are drawn from four communities they conduct a need Assessment and reach at selecting 50 older people from the following Communities such as Moa Wharf Community, Wilberforce Community, Kanikay Community, and Kuntorloh Community and they were giving medical care on the day and food items received from their partners who have been supporting them throughout whenever they have events.
Noting that as a foundation what they want to achieve at the end of the day they want to see a Community where the elderly people are well taking care off as they are more deprived people in the Country with some having nothing to make ends meet.
Speaking how they felt after receiving the Support from the Foundation, Emma Dumbuya a resident from Wilberforce Community said she feel happy to have received such support from the Foundation and she is going to use items for the intended purpose, and thanks the providers in helping them the aged.
Isatu Kamara from Kuntorloh Community said she feel happy for the support she received from the Foundation as it came the right time, because the cost of one tin milk now is cost for them but with what she has received will have to take her a long way, she thanks the providers for their timely support at this time.
Kadiatu Conteh from Kanikay Community said the support they received from the Foundation came at the right time, because she been finding it difficult to buy milk for her everyday tea, but with such support now she is going to use it for the intend purpose.
Making his statement on behalf of the Company, Fawaz Milton Kanu the marketing lead for Premium Divine Company said they are always open in helping cooperate bodies that are always ready help people, adding that their product are out there in markets and it good people go out there and buy them. In Attendance also representative from the 34 Military Hospitals is Captain Kargbo.
