25-Yrs-Old Building Contractor Discharged For Murder

Justice Manuela Harding of Ross road high court in Freetown has yesterday discharged one Fadiru John Moiwo a building contractor for wants of prosecution on the offence of murder in a dwelling house.

She said the court can’t continue with numerous excuses from prosecution.

The accused Fadiru John Moiwo of Hill Top, Hill Station in Freetown was brought before the Court to answer to a count indictment of Murder contrary to Law.

According to the particulars of offence, Fadiru John Moiwo on the 3rd February, 2020 at Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, murdered Emmanuel Prince Samuel Jones.

Addressing the Court, Justice Harding said the objective of the Judiciary during the Prison Week is to complete the backlog of cases and to decongest the prison cells.

In the circumstance, Justice Harding asserted that the Court cannot continue to tolerate the numerous excuses from the Prosecution regarding the consistent absence of Prosecution Witnesses.

“In light of the above stated the accused Fadiru John Moiwo is discharged for Want of Prosecution,” Justice Harding ordered.

In another development, Justice Harding remitted the file of Abibu Turay alias Augero to the Criminal Registry after efforts to trace parties involved in the case proved futile.
