Spokesman for NaCOVERC, Solomon Jamiru has said over thirty four thousand doses of COVID vaccines have been administered to prioritized categories of Sierra Leoneans adding that the second jab started yesterday, Tuesday 13th April.
He referenced the ten cases discovered on Sunday in the Western Rural and Urban districts as a pointer to the fact that the virus is still within communities.
He called on the Muslim community to go by the preventive measures during the month of Ramadan to keep the risk low and avoid a surge of the virus.
He lamented that they are very much concerned and still worried considering the new cases coming up in the communities.
He said the presence of the host of vaccines available in the country through bilateral cooperation, should not pose over confidence in the minds of members of the public.
Tonkolili DeCOVERC has released that one thousand six hundred doses have been administered so far. According to the Spokesman, Robert Salia Kamara, they will continue to engage stakeholders on the precautionary measures.
