At the Turkey/Africa Investment Forum, The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Umaru Napoleon Koroma has disclosed that a potential investor has expressed desire to invest in Sierra Leone’s Tourism Industry.

“I have met this lady who has expressed her desire to invest in Sierra Leone Tourism Industry especially the filming Industry,” Deputy Minister of Mines reveals.

The Deputy Minister of Mines, Umaru Napoleon Koroma in his addressing speech at the Turkey/Africa Investment Forum remarked that Sierra Leone Should not just be remembered for negative reasons but for the many positive things the country could offer to the world.

Napoleon Koroma expressed gratitude to the Turkey/Africa Investment Forum that it would interest them to note that he went there as a Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources but throughout his interaction, he had been able to create connections and convinced some investors to invest in Sierra Leone.

“I meet a lady who tells me that she is into film production. I realized it is an opportunity to have my country as part of it so that we will be able to tell our story,” Napoleon Koroma explained.

The Deputy Minister of Mines went on to state that the story of Sierra Leone had been told differently with little or no reference to their rich minerals, great forest reserves and some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

He conveyed that most people could only remember Sierra Leone for the civil war, blood diamonds and Ebola. He added that Sierra Leone is much more than that and the country has more to offer.

The Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources, Umaru Napoleon Koroma also expressed hope that more foreign investment would change that narrative and promised to effectively utilize the lessons learned at the conference for a better Sierra Leone.
