The chairman Parliamentary over Sight Committee on Defense Hon. Alex Mattia Rogers on 6th September 2023 ended a day familiarization visit to the 14 Battalion in PUJEHUN town has affirmed that government is strengthening security measures within the country.
The honorable MP reiterated that he was in in PUJEHUN to familiarize himself with the commander of the aforementioned Battalion and his men. He said the parliamentary over sight committee on Defense constitutes at least seventeen members of which two are retired military men who are now also members of Parliament.
He said during his visit he was overwhelmed with the warm reception and the healthy working relationship that existed between members of the RSLAF and the SLP living in that part of the country.
According to him for security reasons his findings are going to be tabled in their maiden meeting in the well of Parliament for prompt interventions as security issues are very crucial. Hon. Rogers disclosed plans of embarking on similar visits to all the Battalions and Barracks across the country including border crossing points.
Speaking about the well-being of military officers in his tenure of leadership the law maker promised of industrializing the military force where officers will be fully engaged in mechanized agricultural activities coupled with the idea of officers being used to maintain the culture of maintenance in MDAs.
In conclusion, the chairman pointed out that he is expecting members of the RSLAF to fully maintain their constitutional responsibility in the country and further commended them for maintaining a water tight security in the country and urged them not to relent.
