Sierra Leonean Sara Haghighat-Joo has reached the semi-finals of the ongoing Road to Paris Olympic boxing qualifiers by defeating the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Gisele Muamba Nyenbo in what was described by the scorecard of all 5 judges as a unanimous decision after the 3 rounds bout.
The Sierra Leone and African 54Kg champion is just one step away from qualifying for the France 2024 Olympic Games as she is set to take on her Moroccan counterpart soon in the Senegalese capital Dakar.
Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad are optimistic about Sara’s qualification after what they referred to as 9 minutes of brave performance in the quarter-final stage.
