In anticipation of the upcoming Liberia National Elections slated for October this year, the Regional Police Commander-South, AIG Brima Kanneh, has embarked on a proactive mission to reinforce border security.
The swift and strategic initiative kicked off with a courtesy visit to the Mano River Police Division on Saturday, September 2, 2023.
During this comprehensive visit, the esteemed Regional Police Commander (South) did not confine his focus solely to border crossing points. He actively engaged with commercial motorbike riders and drivers in Gendema, established connections with the Liberian Immigration Unit and Customs officials, and conducted an official tour of the Pujehun Division.
Throughout this timely tour, a series of fruitful discussions unfolded, revealing a total of fourteen major porous crossing outlets and border points, all of which received attention to bolster security measures.
“I highly value the strong partnership between the community and the police. While my primary objective is to inspect and fortify these porous crossing points, I urge drivers and riders to support the police by providing relevant information and collaborating in the fight against illicit drugs,” emphasized AIG Kanneh.
Accompanied by the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Mano River Police Division, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Mr. Alphonso Fambuleh, AIG Kanneh also paid a visit to the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS). Here, they had the privilege of meeting with Ansumana Koroma, the Police Commander at Bo Waterside, and Foday S. Momoh, the head of Immigration, along with other esteemed authorities who warmly welcomed them. These officials commended the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) for their strong collaborative efforts in combating crime.
Drivers and riders in Gendema expressed their eagerness to support the SLP by sharing information related to criminal activities.
The tour extended to Zimmi and Pujehun Police Divisions, where the LUC of Pujehun and the dedicated team received well-deserved acknowledgment for their unwavering dedication to maintaining peace and conducting frequent anti-drug operations.
This professional intra-state tour concluded with the official return of the Regional Police Commander (South) and his team to Bo City, marking a significant stride towards fortifying border security in preparation for the Liberia National Elections.
