One Yayah Fullah a labourer was on Friday 8th September 2023, sentenced to a jail term of 4years imprisonment for unlawful possession of 204 AK-47 ammunitions without lawful authority.
The convicted accused was standing trial before magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No1 on four counts charges ranging from possession of small arms without license contrary to section 12(1) of the Arms and Ammunition Act 2012, act No 9 of 2012, having in control of small arms without license, unlawful concealment of arms and keeping greater number of small arms without license all contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the charge sheet on count one, the accused Yayah Fullah on Thursday 20th April 2023, along Sawulia police checkpoint, Bombali district was found in possession of small arms without license.
The police further alleged on counts two and three that the accused on the same date and place was found in control of small arms and unlawful concealed the said arms without lawful authority.
Whiles counts three added that the accused was found guilty of possessing 178 AK-47 ammunition and 14 Glock 17 ammunition 12 berretta ammunition
He pleaded with the bench that he will not repeat such act again.
The accused was sentenced to a jail term of 12 months each on all the counts to run consecutively.
