Detective Police Constable 17817 George Sellu took the witness stand on Friday, September 1, 2023, at the Bo High Court before Justice Abubakarr Sannoh, offering crucial testimony in an alleged robbery case involving four individuals: Mohammed Jalloh, Ibrahim Koroma, Mohamed Conteh, and Mustapha Nallo, known as “Bigger Grave.”
According to the witnesses, the harrowing incident occurred on the night of Thursday, September 8, 2022, when the aforementioned individuals instilled fear by attacking and subsequently making away with valuable property worth millions and a substantial sum in Sierra Leone currency.
All four suspects have been charged under the Larceny Act of 1916.
Detective PC 17817 Sellu detailed the complainants’ accounts, describing the use of menacing implements during the attack. This prompted the investigator to conduct a thorough search of the suspects’ premises, yielding items of interest with corresponding diary reference numbers.
Sellu further explained that during the search of Mohamed Conteh’s residence, the defendant was found in possession of a Samsung A71 android mobile phone, a 32-inch Samsung plasma television, a backpack, and wristwatches—all of which were positively identified by the complainant, Umu Fawundu, as her property. The defense counsel did not contest these identifications, leading to Justice Abubakarr Sannoh admitting these items as exhibits.
Legal experts have commended Detective George Sellu for his outstanding performance in the courtroom, highlighting his dedication to upholding the reputation of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP). It is expected that other investigators in the Bo East region will follow Sellu’s exemplary lead.
Sellu himself emphasized that his actions are part of his duty as a dedicated investigator, ensuring that the SLP continues to maintain its integrity and prestige.
