Chinese Embassy Donates to MOS/NSA

The Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone His Excellency H.Z Hu Zhangliang has on the 8th April, 2021 donated sporting equipment to the Ministry of Sports and National Sports Authority at the Chinese Embassy in Freetown.

Before the presentation of the items, the Ambassador said that China and Sierra Leone are two sister countries with a long standing relation.

“We have always been supporting Sierra Leone and we will continue to support the country”, the Ambassador added.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Ministry and NSA, Minister of Sports, Ibrahim Nyelenkeh thanked the Ambassador and staff at the Embassy for the donation, describing it as timely.

“The MOS/NSA will ensure that the items donated are utilized for their intended purposes”, Minister Nyelenkeh assured the Embassy staff.

The Minister of Sports affirmed that over the year’s many of the Sporting disciplines in the country have faced serious challenges when it comes to equipment and which have been key factors for some of the sporting disciplines t to perform poorly in international competitions.

The Chinese Government will soon start the renovation of the Siaka Stevens Stadium that will give a face lift to the National Stadium, since it was built way back in the 1980.  This renovation will be the first of its kind matching international standards.

Below are some of the donated items:

a. 12 sets of Solar Power System.

b. 12 Footballs.

c. 9 Basketballs.

d. 24 Badminton Rackets.

e. 40 sets of Badminton Balls.

f. 10 Table Tennis Bats.

g. 20 sets of Table Tennis Balls.

h. 2 Tennis Suits.

i. 5 Volleyballs.

j. 8 Shuttlecocks.
