In Pujehun District: Infant Mortality Rate On The Decrease

The Medical Superintendent of the Pujehun government hospital, Aiah Wurie has informed the people of the district of his administrative commitment to mitigate the spate of maternal and infant mortality rate in the district.

He made the assurance when updating our correspondent on the statistics of maternal and infant mortality from January to August this year.

 Analyzing the statistics as recorded, Dr.Wurie noted that from January to August they have admitted more than one thousand pregnant women, adding nine hundred and fifty six were discharged from January to March 2023, two hundred and ninety eight were delivered safely from January to March and three hundred and eighty six were also delivered from April to June.

Dr. Wurie further that in the month of May, one hundred and forty two pregnant women were delivered which according to him the highest number of pregnant women was delivered at the government hospital. He pointed out that from January to June the hospital conducted two hundred and ninety-four caesarian operations.

The medical superintendent of the Pujehun Government Hospital maintained that they admitted two hundred sixty eight under-fives children from January to March out of which two hundred and thirty seven were discharged, four hundred and forty infant babies were admitted from April to June 2023 and three hundred and eighty two were discharged…”

The records reads more than one thousand pregnant women and two hundred sixty eight infant babies admitted, the hospital recorded eleven maternal mortality and seventy nine  infant mortality at the quarter of this year”,  Dr Wurie narrated.

 He, however, concluded by thanking the team for their tireless efforts in reducing maternal and infant mortality rate in the said district.
