Tension Mounts at PDP… Sec-Gen Taken to Task

Sources within the membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) commonly known as “sobeh” have intimated A-Z newspaper that disciplinary action is going to be taken against the Secretary General of the party.

 Alhaji Ben Kamara, our investigation revealed, took upon himself signing on behalf of the PDP to join the newly formed Consortium of Progressive Political Parties headed by Femi Claudius Cole of the Unity Party which has a membership of twelve political parties including the main opposition party.

Chairman of the party, Prince Coker has said the Secretary General’s decision was unilateral adding that he as the Chairman, together with the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party knew nothing about joining consortium or whatever. He said the party is going to have an emergency meeting to discuss the issue. He insists that his action is one that warrants disciplinary action because he cannot take the party for granted as if it is his property.

He lambasted the consortium noting that posterity will judge members for not being true to their consciences. He said the party is in support of a good number of reforms the current administration is implementing such as the Mid Term Population and Housing Census, the Cyber Crime Bill, nonpartisan local councils, Free Quality Education among others. He said now is not the time to play deity politics when the government needs support to develop the country. He praised the Bio led administration saying they have an open door policy which has enable them dialogue with the government on many occasions. “I want my party to be in power but truly I support President Bio whole-heartedly “, he confessed.

It could be recalled that twelve political parties appended their signatures to form the Consortium of Progressive Political Parties calling for open door policy and dialogue on national issues.
