Freetown, Sierra Leone – In a world where Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives often face skepticism, Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) has emerged as an exemplary force dedicated to community upliftment. On August 19th, 2023, the company celebrated a significant milestone with the inauguration of a solar-powered borehole in Sorgorma Village. This extraordinary initiative not only provides access to clean and safe drinking water for a community that has long suffered from its absence but also promotes renewable energy and environmental consciousness.

The event showcased the power of collective efforts in driving positive change, with distinguished guests including the Deputy NRA Commissioner General’s Representative, MP Representative, Councillor, Paramount Chiefs, Section Chiefs, LRMG representatives, and enthusiastic villagers in attendance.

Hannah Fornah, the Public Relations Officer of LRMG, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the company’s unwavering commitment to community development and the crucial significance of water facilities. She highlighted the collaborative partnership between LRMG and the Sorgorma community as the driving force behind the sustainable progress of this transformative project.

Augustine K. Luseni, the representative for the Deputy NRA Commissioner General, spoke on behalf of the Sorgorma community, expressing heartfelt appreciation for LRMG’s role in enhancing sanitation and overall health in their community. Mr. Luseni poignantly highlighted the daily struggles faced by the people of Sorgorma, who had to embark on arduous journeys over long distances to fetch water. This burden not only affected their physical well-being but also hindered economic activities and overall health.

Councillor Alhaji Sheriff echoed these sentiments, underscoring the significant impact this new water source would have on health, sanitation, and economic growth in the community. He commended LRMG for their dedication to uplifting the lives of the residents of Sorgorma.

Paramount Chief Mohamed T. Musa extended heartfelt thanks to LRMG, foreseeing lasting benefits for future generations. He passionately emphasized that the impact of this solar-powered borehole would echo through generations, allowing children to focus more on their education and empowering women to engage in income-generating activities that would uplift the entire village. This initiative, he stressed, was not just a one-time gift but a foundation for long-term progress and prosperity.

LRMG’s commitment to community well-being serves as an inspiring example for businesses worldwide. It goes beyond mere philanthropy, reminding us of the intrinsic link between a company’s success and the communities it serves. In Sorgorma, LRMG has delivered more than just water; they have delivered hope, progress, and a brighter future. As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, let us commend their unwavering dedication to creating positive change.

In addition to the inauguration of the solar-powered borehole, LRMG further demonstrated their commitment to uplifting Sierra Leone by making significant donations to various organizations. On the same day, the company contributed NLe 40,000 to the Youth and Children Advocacy Panel to support youth activities in the country. This donation will have far-reaching benefits in empowering the youth and fostering their growth.

LRMG also donated NLe 20,000 to the Kantaya Women Development Organization, aiding women in the Malama community in Freetown. This generous contribution will support the organization in purchasing equipment for their vocational training programs, enabling women to enhance their skills and improve their livelihoods.

Leone Rock Metal Group’s efforts serve as a shining example of the positive impact businesses can have when they prioritize social responsibility. Through their dedication to community well-being, environmental consciousness, and investments in Sierra Leone’s future, LRMG is paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable tomorrow.
